Austin Animal Center, the animal shelter where I do my work, is truly AT THE BRIM (surprise? not really, but still). Please, if you want a dog, save a life and adopt.
BUDDY IS IN SEVERE DANGER. HE HAS UNTIL JAN.29 TO FIND A HOME OR HE WILL DIE. If there was a time to save him, NOW WOULD BE IT!!
Buddy is truly a miracle dog. His story is amazing; it would be a SHAME for him to die after all this time..
Buddy came to us back in April of LAST YEAR…talk about a long stay. Buddy was emaciated and had virtually no hair. He was constantly over-looked time and time again for months, until one July day, it was found he had a kidney disorder, cancer, and heart problems. Time passed and he only lost more and more weight, resulting in the shelter feeling he should be put to sleep. One staff member wasn’t having any of that—he was too special. So they decided to take him in for foster care for “hospice” so he could die in peace. Surprisingly, once out of the shelter, he defied all vets and made a rapid recovery. His cancer subsided, his kidney problems were managed, and his heart problems receded. He gained weight and grew his hair in, and all his energy came back. He still wasn’t the picture of perfect health, but the fact that he laughed in the face of death and survived is really miraculous!!
Despite all the effort and emotional investment in him, he is now NEXT IN LINE to be KILLED should no one step up and save him. We are DESPERATE for Buddy-we love him!
Buddy will not live as long as other dogs, and a vet hasn’t been able to exact his lifespan. He has some good years left, but we can’t predict how many there are. We just know he doesn’t deserve to live them out here-he’s spent enough time here. He’s a good boy. He just needs a chance to get out and see the world. Can anyone give that to him??
Buddy is a 4 year old dalmatian mix. Some staff has him listed as a Chinese shar-pei, but a shar-pei breed expert has come out and said he is *NOT* a shar-pei at all. Vets and other staff agree that he is a Dalmatian/pointer cross of some sort. Buddy is HOUSEBROKEN, knows obedience commands like “sit” and how to walk on the leash (plus more and stuff we’re working on!). Buddy is okay with other dogs, but a meet and greet is REQUIRED to make sure he doesn’t come back. He has been with dogs in several situations so we know he does well, but he does better with dogs his size and bigger. He would be best in a home without small animals and does GOOD with children.
Buddy isn’t super clingy, but does enjoy a good petting and does show that he loves you with kisses-he just isn’t a big lap dog. He is very interested in the world around him and would love nothing more than a buddy to explore the world with. He has come too far to die so early, please save him!
Buddy’s adoption fee is $5 for THIS WEEKEND (Jan.20-22) but will be $75 after, which includes ALL vaccinations, neuter, microchip, and new collar. We have put hundreds and HUNDREDS of dollars into his care plus his training. We’ve worked hard for him to get out of here. His Animal ID number is A599409 and he is in kennel no.111 at Austin Animal Center, located at 7201 Levander Loop. We are open every day from 11 AM to 7 PM.
PLEASE, if you can save him, email me at acidxstar@yahoo.com or message me for my phone #. I will do anything to get him out. Even if you can’t foster/adopt, I’m BEGGING you to reblog. This is one of the first dogs I put a lot of work into and I want him to end his life with a family, not with a strange euthanasia tech.
Thank you!!!
Please email me with any questions and I will get back to you ASAP! I will do anything I can to get him out of here ALIVE!
